The accelerator was geared for social development startups moving towards a better, environmentally prosperous world. The accelerator also offers links to instruction, goods and technological assistance. Plus Venture entrepreneurs will collaborate alongside Google developers and obtain mentoring from over 20 Google teams along with outside experts and local advisors.
"Technology can help address some of the world's greatest challenges, from empowering others to use AI to address social challenges, to setting ambitious and long-term sustainable growth goals. When companies and developers partner together with states, non-profits, societies and people, we will create meaningful change, " Brandt wrote in a blog post.
The start-ups to be selected are based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including poverty, inequality , climate and environmental degradation. Applications will be opened for start-ups from Europe , the Middle East and Africa during the next few weeks. And 8 to 10 start-ups will participate in the six-month accelerator programme at the beginning of 2020. And a second cohort will be chosen later this year.
This initiative was designed to resolve the obstacles that entrepreneurs encounter when creating an organisation with a social effect. These obstacles can involve product and technical skills, corporate growth, or access to finance.
This software was integrated into Google for startups — a programme known to help companies develop and grow goods. And the announcement was made by Brandt at the software conference of the Web Summit in Lisbon.
