Earlier today in New Delhi, he delivered a speech at the Convocation of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
The Minister referred to Chartered Accountancy as one of the world's most honourable professions and stated that the signature of a CA affixed to a document was a very powerful endorsement of the contents of the document as well as its veracity, integrity, and truthfulness. In addition, the Minister stated that the signature of a CA affixed to a document was a very powerful endorsement of the document's veracity. Shri Goyal highlighted his contentment with the global footprint that the ICAI has established, which includes over 168 branches, presence in 47 countries, and 77 centres located in various locations across the globe. The Minister extended his congratulations to ICAI on its accomplishment of establishing one hundred centres across the globe and requested that the Institute also increase its presence in the continent of South America.
The Minister emphasised that CAs should always be committed to fostering inclusive growth in order to ensure that nobody is left behind as we go closer and closer to becoming a developed nation. According to what he said, we have to make sure that every segment of society, even those people who are at the very bottom of the social hierarchy and those who are marginalised in society, comes along for the ride. According to the Minister, everyone in the country, even those with the fewest advantages, has the right to a higher quality of life, and it is the responsibility of the CAs as a whole to work toward securing these rights through fostering inclusive growth.
Shri Goyal made the observation that India is today regarded as the talent factory of the globe, and he stated that Chartered Accountants (CAs) are among the best qualified talent created by the nation. He expressed optimism that the Chartered Accountants of India will not only meet the expectations of their fellow Indians, but also those of the rest of the globe.
In addition to auditing, accounting, and management consulting, Shri Goyal encouraged young chartered accountants to investigate the possibilities offered by entrepreneurship. He urged the Chartered Accountancy Bodies of India to engage more with 'naari shakti,' which translates to women's power, and to make it a priority to increase the number of women who become Chartered Accountants and the number of women who join the Council of the ICAI in order to make it more powerful and inclusive.
The Minister spoke about the Panch Pran, which was articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as India celebrated 75 years of independence. The Minister, when speaking about the first vow of building a developed India, asked Chartered Accountants to work to bridge the gap between rural and urban India, the developing India and the developed India, the rich and the poor, investors and entrepreneurs, and to ultimately empower India to become a developed nation by the year 2047. According to Shri Goyal, Prime Minister Modi also discussed the importance of eradicating colonial mentalities from our day-to-day lives. According to what the Minister mentioned, there are a few different areas in which we must reject the legacy of colonialism and progress to become more modern in our way of thinking.
The Minister urged the younger generation to have a great lot of pride in India's extensive history, traditions, heritage, and culture, as well as in its legacy principles such as vasudhaiva kutumbakam and its deeply established devotion to nature and sustainability. Shri Goyal stated that India is a nation that has always had a fundamental belief in the concept of sustainability. He went on to say that our culture has known since the beginning of time the importance of nature and the obligation to pass on a better planet to future generations than the one we inherited. He emphasised that India had always understood the importance of intergenerational fairness.
The Minister emphasised that India should exhibit a united front to the world in order to respond to Prime Minister Modi's demand for unity. He appealed to the members of the professional community to work together, and he urged organisations to demonstrate the same attitude of cooperation.
