The FAME scheme, launched in April 2012, is to be applied over a six-year period until 2020.

To encourage the growth and production of the hybrid / electric vehicle industry. Under the scheme here, buyers (end users / consumers) would use the demand rewards directly at the point of purchase.The manufacturers of the Department of Heavy Industries shall, in the same manner, be reimbursed by the manufacturers of the Department of Heavy Industries monthly baseline.

 

  1. How do citizen avail the demand incentive on the purchase of a xEV?

At the time of purchase, the demand incentive advantage would be passed on to the customer in advance.By way of paying reduced rates, the xEV itself.

The scheme is currently applicable in selected regions, such as notified separately and broadly covering subsequent regions.Cities: a) Cities under the initiative of 'Smart Cities.' B) Big agglomerations of metro-Delhi NCR, Greater Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad. (c) All Capitals of the State and otherUrban Agglomerations / Cities with a population of 1 million+ (as per the 2011 census) d) Northern CitiesStates of the East. For the 2 and 3 wheeler, however, the scheme is applicable nationwide.

Phase I of the system is a kind of pilot project just to see people's response to energy and electricity vehicles with hybrids. In the next step, if this stage is efficient, the scheme will apply throughout the entire phase.

The FAME incentive will be available above and beyond any EV incentiveat the State level offered byState / Local bodies of any kind. There is, however, a special incentive for JNNRUM (AMRIT) funded buses.

Yes, for all styles and self-capitalized vehicles as well, the demand incentive will be available.

Yeah, the demand incentive would also be available to business applications for fleet operators.

Yes, the OEM can bill the vehicle and customer may avail the demandincentive

Yes, the incentive will be available to corporate and organizations

 

  1. Is the FAME incentive applicable for multiple xEV purchases by a customer? Or is it possible to get subsidy for bulk orders on a single person’s name or on single company’s names?

Yes, an individual may buy multiple xEVs and avail the demand incentive applicable for each of them.

 

  1. It is said that Electric Vehicles (EV) are also called as Emission Elsewhere Vehicle (EEV). Is it true that EVs are just transferring emission from city area to the place where power is being generated?

The reality is that a standard traditional hatchback has 130-140 gm / km of CO2 emission comparing to there is a 100 gm / km electric vehicle when charged by grid and when charged by solar, there is ~0 gm / km emitting CO2 from an electric car.

 

  1. Is it necessary to sold sell old gasoline based vehicles to get subsidy under FAME India Scheme?

No, there is no such condition in the present guidelines.

 

  1. Are Electric and Hybrid Vehicles available in the market are safe to drive?

The demand incentive under the FAME India framework is only available for vehicles governed by the FAME India scheme.

The Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) and other qualifying conditions set out in the FAME scheme are fulfilled.

As such, these vehicles comply with all safety regulations in the region, as applicable.

 

  1. Which electric vehicles categories are not covered under this FAME scheme?

Under the FAME system, the following sections are not covered: a) E-Rikshaw (b) Electric bicycles.

(c) Vehicles used for moving goods / persons used in closed premises such as warehouses, airports, etc. (d) Chair-cars-electric. All those vehicles that do not explicitly minimize fossil fuel consumption are not covered under the FAME Scheme for India.

 

  1. Since the subsidy is only on a reimbursement basis, can we claim the amount from DHI and then pass it to customers?

No, as per scheme guidelines, incentive will be on reimbursement basis only after submission of claim. This claim required to be submitted only after sale of vehicles.
