Spirit of the Entrepreneur | Signs that shows your Entrepreneur spirit

The Entrepreneurial Spirit isn't something you're taught about it’s something you need to develop within yourself. There are some characteristics of work and life that you just can't teach. They're formed from within and over time, they're part of who we are

One of these characteristics is the entrepreneurial spirit.

It develops in individuals who demonstrate a true passion for building something great out of nothing and who are willing to push themselves to the limits to achieve great goals.

As an entrepreneur, these are the individuals with whom you choose to recruit and associate yourself. I 'm sure you don't need to own a multi-billion dollar business or start the next Facebook page to show the qualities of entrepreneurial spirit. It's something that you show every day how you approach your life and your career.

Below are five markers that prove that an Entrepreneurial Spirit is alive and well in someone.

1) They are in tune with their passion.

Think of the last conversation you've had with someone about something they've been deeply passionate about. It doesn't matter if the subject is completely uninteresting to you, the conviction in their voice and the genuine enthusiasm they have for it is captivating. Passionate people know what it's like to dive deep into a subject and fully understand it. This is something we're looking for when I hire my Porch.com startup. When people are truly passionate about the problems that your company is trying to solve, they will be energised by any challenge that lies in their way.

2) They're still asking how to do things differently.

Mark Twain once wrote, "Once you see yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to stop and think." The common citizen scarcely discusses how everyday situations might be changed or enhanced — those of an imaginative heart can't help themselves. They keep questioning why things are done the way they are, and they're not afraid to go against the majority to make changes. It's impressive in an interview when a candidate has real business questions and suggestions and ideas on how to improve the existing product.

3) Optimistic of all possibilities

To be an entrepreneur in nature is to be optimistic. People with an entrepreneurial spirit don't spend time thinking about what they can't do, but instead ask themselves, "Why can't I?" The chances of success are strong against you when you start, so you really need people to be more optimistic than ever. Look for candidates who are excited about the idea of aggressive challenges and big goals. They are the ones who can expand the limits of what was once considered unlikely.

(4) They shall take calculated risks

In addition to optimism, entrepreneurs are predisposed to high risk tolerance. But that doesn't mean that they jump automatically into motion, it's the reverse. Many with an adventurous mindset make measured decisions while knowing that there is never any promise of achievement. It is also the capacity to act separately and to be definitive. The playbook is not always clear, so it's ideal to be able to say agile and adapt to a high degree of ambiguity.

5) They perform, above all,

I can't count how many times I've had aspiring entrepreneurs come to me for advice on their untested ideas. My suggestion is often to go out and act on your suggestions first and get real input. That's how thoughts don't matter unless they're worked on. Many with an Entrepreneurial Spirit know that implementation is all about progress or failure. Find employ employees who have the drive to deliver at all times, no matter what the circumstances.
