Today, we bring you the story of a startup, Aphro, founded by Yashesh V Patel and Parth Amrutiya, an example of consistency and hard work.

Personal Information

Parth Amrutiya- Parth has completed his education at Ahmedabad in civil engineering and then he moved to Queen’s University of  Belfast, UK. After coming from abroad, he then started an architectural design studio in Ahmedabad.

Yashesh V Patel - Yashesh completed his Bachelors in Business Management in Ahmedabad itself and then did his M.B.A from CMS Business School - Jain University, Bangalore in 2018 in Marketing and Finance specialization. After working for over three years in the Import-Export Industry he has been working full time with Aphro.

Motivation

Motivation is a process that helps you go as well as guides you. To talk about what motivated the founders of Aphro.

“Being a fragrance enthusiast, I have always loved the art of perfumery. It is always intrigued me that the creation of perfume is similar to the creation of music or a good painting. The fascinating thing about it is that by composing a few ingredients we can create a whole new experience.” Parth explains.

“The motivation to start a perfume brand came from a mutual love for perfumes for me and my co-founder, there was a big gap in the market where the branded products were of excellent quality but costly on the other hand the alternatives were cheaper but the quality was not up to the mark. Yashesh explains.

The idea behind Aphro

Aphro is a luxury perfume brand and the idea behind establishing it was to bespoke a perfume house/ niche studio that revolves around every aspect of the perfumery, be it a creation or design, or marketing. It was started in February 2021 with the motive of catering to an affordable luxury segment of the country via the D2C Business model.

Aphro’s products have been curated keeping in mind the different occasions that an individual has to attend, and also the products are kept unisex.

The products have been kept with 20% Perfume Oil Concentration (EDP) which results in a long-lasting fragrance for an individual. The products have been curated by Perfumers qualified from Grasse Institute of Perfumery – France.

Challenges

Well, challenges are a part of life no matter what are you doing there are always going to be some or other challenges that you will face. Is not it said; “In a game, challenges are the proof that you are going in the right direction”

We asked Parth and Yashesh about the kind of challenge they face to which they said, “Can mention a huge list of challenges that we have faced, but to name a few.
The sourcing of quality materials from India. India is becoming a manufacturing hub for all the materials but the quality of the products varies and sourcing good quality materials is a task that we faced at the beginning of the journey.

Providing knowledge to the customers regarding the differentiation of the product from the mass market availability

Services

Aphro has launched three fragrances as of now and there are other exciting fragrances are in pipeline.

Aphro is also into the curation of  Fragrances currently, it has three unique Fragrances for the Indian Market.


The present and future of Aphro

Currently, Aphro is in the growing stage, exploring more about the perfume industry, its art, and the need of end-users.

“Shortly, we would like to see ourselves creating an exciting range of perfumes and connect with people through this amazing business which we adore.” Says one of the founders.
Currently, Aphro is developing new fragrances for the Indian Market and also raising funds for the expansion of the organization and all set to explore the depths of the Perfume Industry as a whole and how to cater to the Indian Millenials and the GenZ of the country.

To which they said, “Consistency is the key. Work consistently in the direction and you shall see the difference. Also, if you are selling a product or service, make sure to maintain the quality for the quality speaks of itself.”
